Canoeing and Kayak Holidays and Adventure Vacations Worldwide Canada Europe

>>

The best canoeing kayaking holidays and vacations can be found by searching the Internet.

Here you will find a wide range of various levels that can be tailored to your particular needs and skills.

Two of the most popular summertime activities are canoeing and kayaking, mainly because they are safe and easily done by anyone of any age, skill level, or ability.

These water sports are very relaxing and provide excellent opportunities for fun in the sun and make ideal holiday and vacation breaks.

But if you've never participated before, you may not know where to begin to plan your canoeing and kayaking adventure.

Here's some helpful advice to help you sort out the details and get out on the water!

There is essentially little or no difference between canoeing and kayaking. Both offer either a calming ride on the lake or rivers or the excitement of white water riding.

The best approach to experiencing the fun of this sport is to scout out packaged tours. Unless you plan to take up the sport full time, there is no need to purchase your own equipment.

Buying can run up quite a large bill, as canoes generally are quite expensive, and then there is the other equipment needed such as paddles and safety clothing.

You can find introductory to advanced packages through out the world, which makes this ideal to integrate with a vacation.

You may be wondering what to take for your adventure break.

Be sure to pack quick-drying clothes, such as synthetic shorts, tops, and jackets. Don’t forget sunglasses, hats, and sunscreen, as the sun is much stronger when reflecting off the water.

Always carry a couple water bottles and small snacks in case you or a member of your family need a quick energy boost, and always have your own first aid kit.

Have a waterproof bag to keep personal items dry. These bags are available in a variety of sizes for large or small items.

There are different types of kayaks or canoes for recreational, sea, and white water or rapids. Paddles differ too. Your weight and size will affect the kayak type and style.

Personal flotation devices or life jackets are required and they need to fit properly. Helmets need to be worn and are available in a wide variety of colors and designs. In addition to the basic style safety helmet, there are helmets that include protection for the face. These resemble football helmets and are used when extra protection is required.

Spray skirts are used to keep the wearer dryer and to keep water out of the canoe. A properly fitted spray skirt seals the cockpit. The best spray skirt is made of neoprene. Sea spray skirts often contain both neoprene and nylon. Nylon spray skirts are often used in a recreational kayak.

This sport is a way to see the world in a different perspective.

You can, for example, paddle through the area in Hawaii where Jurassic Park was filmed.

You can see killer whales up close while sea kayaking in Alaska.

Or you can shoot the rapids all around the world.

You can go to remote places that can't be accessed any other way. You can calmly paddle and enjoy nature without the intrusion of technology.

This sport is friendlier to the environment than speed boating or water skiing. Because a kayak doesn't create large or frequent waves, require fuel, or disperse hazards into the air and water, it is indeed a fairly safe activity for humans and wildlife alike.

Kayaking on freshwater lakes and streams creates little turbulence and therefore, does not disturb fish or other aquatic life.

Some public lakes and rivers, around the world, have taken steps to preserve the quality of the waterways by requiring permits for kayaking.

An important factor to remember when enjoying your sport is that you are a guest in someone else's home.

Always remember that the water is home to many aquatic animals and wildlife. Just as you would not throw trash on the floor or destroy the home of another, you shouldn't do it outdoors either. Keep all trash with you in your canoe and properly dispose of it after you return to shore. Don't dump anything in the water, and try to avoid expelling human waste if at all possible.

By doing your part, you will help keep kayaking a safe and enjoyable activity for yourself, others and the environment.
