If you're a first-time visitor, taking a city break New York style, you’ll want to see ... the Empire State Building, the Chrysler Building, the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, Rockefeller Center, Times Square, Staten Island Ferry and Brooklyn Bridge.

The Bronx is named after Jonas Bronck, a Swedish sea captain, who in 1639 was the first European settler.

This borough has more parkland than any of the other boroughs, a renowned botanical garden, a world-renowned zoo, its own Little Italy, beaches and even an island reminiscent of a New England fishing village.

It is also home to one of the city's two major league baseball clubs, the Yankees, who play at the famed Yankee Stadium.

Queens is across the East River from midtown Manhattan and is said to be the most ethnically diverse 115 square miles on earth. Long Island and Flushing Meadow National Tennis Center can be found here. As can Shea Stadium, home of the New York Mets the other baseball team.

You will also find New York City's oldest house of worship the Quaker Meeting House which has been in continuous use since 1694.

Staten Island is 13.9 x 7.5 mile island that feels more suburban than the other boroughs.

It’s fame comes from the ferry which leaves the tip of Manhattan sailing through New York Harbor on past the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island and Governors Island and gives you unobstructed views of Lower Manhattan. This sightseeing tour doesn't cost a thing as the Staten Island Ferry is free.
