Costa Rica Holidays and USA Tours Vacations Hotels & Resorts

<<>>

Costa Rica Holidays and Costarica tours are popular to this beautiful country located in Central America and nestled between Nicaragua and Panama.

As for size it is just a few square miles smaller than West Virginia, but filled with beauty and tranquillity and a huge appreciation for life and the pursuit of relaxation.

The locals refer to themselves, as Ticos and they are always warm and welcoming.

Tours and vacations are big business in a land covering just less than 0.1% of the Earth's land mass and home to 5% of the world's biodiversity.

With 26 national parks and protected areas spread out across the country there's lots to do and see.

If you enjoy looking at rare wildlife you can watch macaws, leatherback turtles, morpho butterflies, and the Central American squirrel monkey. You can also see migrating whales, various dolphin species, sea turtles, and manatees when they migrate through the area at specific times of the year.

You could tour rainforests and even embark on a jungle safari.

There are three volcanoes in the country and you can view one of them that is currently active, the Arenal, which is located in the northern part of the country. The other two are just to the midpoint and southern end of the country. You could relax and soak yourself in the hot springs that are near the volcanoes.

Much of the lush and beautiful plant life near the volcanoes is there because of the volcanic ash that works as a fertilizer since the hot lava has burned away old plants giving nutrient rich soil.

The best time to take Costarica vacations is between December and April which is the period of the dry season and May through November when they go through the rainy season.

Usually it's best to visit Costa Rica when the weather isn't very hot and humid since Central America is only a few miles from the equator.

When you are planning your vacation it is good to know a little about the area so you can choose your Costarica hotels in places that suits your interests.

Here is a quick run down of various areas in Costa Rica.

San Jose

Most museums and art galleries in Costa Rica are found in San Jose. The central part of San Jose is noisy and crowed as most capital cities are. The airport is located just outside of San Jose and is the main arrival and departure point, apart fron the cruise ships.

The Northwest

Arenal and Monteverde are located in the Northwest of the country.

Arenal is the Volcano located in this area and is one of the only active volcanoes in the world that can be safely viewed by tourists without the threat of bodily harm.

The road to Monteverde runs from the small town of Santa Elena to the Monteverde Cloud Forest Preserve with its Costarica resorts, hotels, nightclubs and restaurants. A popular area with tourists it was originally settled by Quakers who became great at making cheese. You can still buy it here.

Nicoya Peninsula

Is a wonderful coastal area full of pristine beaches that remain somewhat of a secret. The beaches are still relatively deserted. This would be a good area for you if you have water sports in mind. There is snorkelling, swimming, diving, surfing, fishing, horseback riding and kayaking.

The drive from Carrillo to Mal País by 4-wheel drive is simply amazing and the golf course at Playa Conchal is renowned.

Quepos & the Central Pacific

This is another area known for its beaches and water sports with an abundance of quiet beaches to choose from. . Along the Pacific Coast Highway there is a vast choice of lodging from the seedy to the luxurious and in between.

This area is a wonderland for any beach lover with diving, fishing, golf, and horseback riding, kayaking and surfing.

Osa Peninsula & Golfo Dulce

This area is much more remote and there are several luxury hotels and resorts.

Drake Bay has whale-watching tours and you can often spot dolphins playing around your boat as you’re sailing.

Corcovado National Park offers tours for wildlife viewing and photography.

In Golfo Dulce the are 2 botanical gardens, Casa Orquideas Botanical Garden and Wilson Botanical Garden.

South Caribbean

Here you will find miles of banana plantations and some of the most beautiful beaches in the country. The climate in this area is much more humid and the culture is more Caribbean. The usual water sports can be found here.

Costa Rica offers a lot of great ocean views since it's got the Pacific Ocean to the West and the Caribbean Sea to the East.

So those who want to catch a wave can stay in hotels along the Pacific Ocean side and those who want that tranquil island breeze can stay on the Caribbean Sea side.

Wherever you choose you will have a great time in Costa Rica.
